Squirrel Some Away...
In honor of our furry creatures who are industrious & put things away for another day, this is a heads up to let all you Jam Fans know that a delivery of 2 of our most luscious flavors has been delivered to Salt & Straw Ice Cream on NW 23rd. There you will find Bluebarb, a perennial favorite consisting of blueberries, rhubarb, and cinnamon basil...this is one you will want to slather on muffins, pancakes, waffles, and crepes! The other concoction fresh off the delivery mobile is Strawberry Pink Peppercorn ~ a sweet yet spicy & floral combination perfectly suited to scones, bannoch bread, cookie sandwiches (think: Oatmeal Cookie with thin layer of this jam!), or this is one that makes a beautiful ribbon in a jam cake. You will not be disappointed! Stash some away to give as gifts! Store some away for yourself when you need a special treat! There are a very select few jars left of a Naked Fraise, too...this one is blushingly bare, made of strawberries & a hint of Meyer lemon. Some of us have been known to eat this with a spoon. More goodies coming your way. We try to be industrious!
With Gratitude For Jam Fans,

It's Been Awhile...
Dear Jam Fans,
It has been quite awhile since a post was posted & it has been time for a re-grouping, a going inward, a re-assessment, of sorts. Jams are currently available in Portland at both Salt & Straw Ice Cream locations, as well as a select few flavors at Mag Big on Hawthorne and Starflower on 34th & Belmont. The first strawberries of the season should be coming soon and Spring is just around the corner! Pink Slip Jam shall return!
Jam, I Am,
Suzanne

Last Chance This Season
Some of you may think of Summer when the topic of lemons comes up. Maybe you're thinking of lemonade or Lemon Meringue Pie. Or Hostess Pies, for all I know...what I will say is this: citrus fruits are Winter fruits. If they were placed in those old categories of fashion~makeup~color charting from years back, Lemons (regardless of their 'sunny' color) are 'Winters'. So, with this in mind, please note that the last batch of Meyer Lemon & Vanilla Jam for this season has been made. I'm movin' on to rhubarb, berries, edible posies, and then on to early stone fruit offerings. If I may be so bold to suggest something?? You may want to scoot on over to Salt & Straw on NE Alberta Street or to The Woodsman Market on 45th & SE Division ASAP. They have stores of the lemony golden goodness just waiting to come home with you. Slather on biscuits, on English muffins, crepes, waffles, your arm, pancakes, roast chicken, ice cream (it is delicious on Salt & Straw Vanilla...). You decide. But be prepared: it won't last & you'll be sad when you have to wait till next Winter before it comes around again!

A Swell Day in the Distillery
Yesterday proved to be a fun adventure, filled with conviviality, tasty comestibles, and all sorts of fun concoctions to imbibe. Thanks to House Spirits Distillery for hosting this grand event! As luck would have it, Pink Slip Jam was fortunate enough to be wedged right in between Salt & Straw Ice Cream and Woodblock Chocolate! A trifecta of deliciousness indeed! For those who were otherwise engaged, there will be other opportunities coming up in February, tho' if you still need a Valentine, you're cutting it mighty fine. Email or call Pink Slip Jam if you need a last minute surprise.

Be Prepared
Spring is in the air, if not temperature-wise, then certainly forefront in the minds of sweethearts. You do not want to be one of those unfortunate individuals roaming the aisles of Fred Meyer's looking for a Valentine gift. Well, maybe you don't mind waiting till the last minute, but the person on the receiving end just might appreciate a wee bit more thought. Currently Pink Slip Jam can be found on the shelves of Oui Presse on Hawthorne & 18th, as well as Salt & Straw Ice Cream on NE Alberta & 21st-ish. There are several flavors currently residing on the cozy shelf at The Woodsman Market on 45th & SE Division, too. They would love to come home with you as part of a special Valentine breakfast or as a treat on some ice cream or crepes for dessert. Or on a cheese plate while you sip something delightful from House Sprits Distillery on 7th Street.
Speaking of which...on February 11, which is NEXT Saturday, there will be a pre-Valentine event at House Spirits & this will be one not to be missed! All the details will be forthcoming in this weeks' Mercury! Stay tuned!
