In honor of what would have been my Dad's birthday, I present his signature treat, a Hooey-Gooey, otherwise known as a banana split. He would assemble any sort of ice cream, a variety of toppings, nuts, the requisite banana, maybe some whipped cream, and, since he had been a bartender, there were always cherries. So...a cherry on top was an absolute. He was incredibly generous with his creations, offering them frequently to all us kids, as well as the family dog, Cedar. No one ever complained. His only requirement after this kind of indulgence would be to quietly say,

"Don't tell your Mother. Supper will be ready soon & she'd scalp us alive."

I doubt she'd do such a thing.

If you're feeling nostalgic, I'd suggest hoisting one of these in honor of Everett. He'd approve. He'd probably aid & abet you in your efforts.
